What's wrong with American Soccer? I cant keep track of how many times I have asked myself this question. There are so many bad things about American soccer, but at the same time the US National Team is continuing to grow stronger and the MLS is atleast for me beginning to Improve. I have decided to put forward my thoughts on this matter with a number of articles with each one focusing an individual problem that is holding back the American Soccer Revolution.
Part I: Commentary.
For me watching and enjoying a football match is just as much a matter of listening to good commentary as is viewing the actual football itself.( If you are JP Dellacamera and you read this, PLEASE STOP COMMENTATING). Too many times i tune into a USA World Cup qualifier, or an MLS game and hear his voice. There is no possible way for this too improve, so it really isnt even his fault. The truth is that espn and foxsoccer need to hire some good old english commentators. Espn has done this on their Champions League coverage by allowing Derek Rae and Tommy Smyth to commentate. This alone made viewing the Inter Milan and Manchester United game much more enjoyable. So There you have it we need better commentators.
